On 1 January 2026, Nicolas Beaussillon took over the day-to-day management of Retail Estates, a specialist in out-of-town retail real estate, from Jan De Nys. On 13 November 2025, the Board of Directors appointed Mr Beaussillon as managing director and co-opted him as a director. Both mandates commenced on 1 January 2026. Jan De Nys' term as managing director, which began 28 years ago when the company was founded, ended on 31 December 2025 after he resigned due to reaching the age limit set out in the real estate company's corporate charter.

Nicolas Beaussillon: "After an intensive but very instructive introductory phase, I am ready to take on the role of CEO and further develop Retail Estates. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Jan De Nys: together with his team, he guided me through the handover in the best possible circumstances. It was a privilege to be able to work so closely with the founder of this exceptional company. During that time, I got to know Jan not only as a driven businessman, but also as someone who attaches great importance to the human side of running a company."

Retail Estates was founded in 1998 by Jan De Nys, who recognised the potential of out-of-town retail real estate early on. In the same year, it went public to raise capital and make his first property acquisitions. Together with the management team, Jan built Retail Estates into a leading player with more than €2 billion of out-of-town retail real estate in its portfolio in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Jan's leadership was characterised by his connection with his employees, proactive risk management, and direct management of customers and the property portfolio. This has laid a solid foundation on which the team, led by Nicolas Beaussillon, can continue to build.

Jan De Nys: ‘For 28 years, I have worked with dedication and conviction to build Retail Estates into what it is today, together with the management team. We have created strong teams of which I am particularly proud. I am therefore confidently handing over the day-to-day management to Nicolas, in the belief that this will be the start of a new chapter in the growth of the company.’

Jan De Nys will provide part-time support to Nicolas Beaussillon and the management team until 31 March 2026. After that, he will devote himself full-time to his other board mandates.
